Saying the P-47 was big and robust is an understatement, but it could dance with the best of them. It’s worth noting that the 56th Fighter Group, which flew Jugs all the way through the war, was the USAAF’s highest scoring Group, with over 1000 kills, this in addition to a massive amount of ground pounding.
